Hey All!
I'm sure most of you have already seen this, but I wanted to make a formalized announcement. No Mercy's Backerkit Campaign has been sent out!
For those of you who don't know, BackerKit is an awesome platform for Kickstarted Projects that allow for us to provide better fulfillment and features going forward with our backers for the Kickstarter. We have a bit more control over our surveys now, like the one we just sent.
BackerKit also allows us to provide various Add-Ons to our previous backers, and offers a chance for new backer to come on board to the project. Did you really want that plushie or sweater, but the tier was too high for you at the time? You can get it as an Add-On Now! Miss the original Kickstarter but want to be involved? Now you have access to a selection of the Tiers from the original Kickstarter, as well as the ability to pre-order the game! So that's exciting!!
I've talked quite a bit now, but I think that BackerKit does a fine job at explaining a few of the quick questions you may have about the service, so the following is an excerpt from an email template. There's plenty of awesome info in there for you all, so read up and let us know if you have any other questions!

It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.
You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like.
After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts.
If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://nomercy.backerkit.com.
If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at https://nomercy.backerkit.com/faq.

So that's about everything! Again, if you have any questions, go yell at me on our discord (www.multivarious.com/discord) and we'll see what we can do about it! We really can't thank you all enough for all of the support throughout this year, and we can't wait to deliver a game that you all deserve!
With Love,
-Cody and the Multivarious Team
P.S. Be ready for an awesome Indy Pop Con Update after the team gets home on Monday :)

Hey all, Cody here for a hot moment. Katie wrote up an up an awesome update, but I wanted to give a quick update to our Kickstarter backers. First of all, we somehow never made a "Thank You" Update, so THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING US FUND OUR KICKSTARTER. You all are incredible and we can't thank you enough.
We're currently working on BackerKit Integration so expect an email from them soon to start getting all of the information we need. I'll make another update when Backerkit goes live, to talk to everyone about how to use it!
So that's everything from me for now. Thank you again for all of your support, expect to hear a lot more from us in the coming months.
Now onto your regularly scheduled programming! -Cody
Hey guys, we're all still hard at work on No Mercy! As you can see above the lovely Belle and her guardian Bit are all textured up and ready for animation soon. Orion is in the process of being modeled and should be ready for texture soon too. Our programmers have been hard at work revamping our level building system to speed things up in the long run, as well as working on getting online multiplayer setup! Our writers have been kicking ass too and we now have a fully fleshed out storyline with multiple endings that should offer just as much gameplay as it does secrets. We'll be posting little dev updates here monthly as we continue to work on things, thank you guys for the support and please feel free to hop into our Discord to talk to the devs and other people testing the game!

A Final Thought Before Funding Ends

There's only 12 hours left for our first successfully-funded Kickstarter campaign. We've been humbled and grateful by the outpouring of support and feedback and love we've received over the last month.
This is our final rallying cry before we put our heads down and lose ourselves in the throes of development. It would mean so much to us if you could share our campaign one last time.
To really push this issue, we'd like to share with you our vision for the potential of No Mercy. The demo is already pretty fun and we're happy with it, but it is missing many elements that are crucial and which our team is very excited about. The demo can be thought of as a prototype for the crunchy center of the full game. Despite what the demo may imply, the final game will be less linear of an experience.
No Mercy's main game mode tells a story of a disparate group of would-be heroes coming together to rescue a forest corrupted by evil. The forest and the corruption are going to be something akin to separate factions, and the main characters of the game will fight to tip the balance of this conflict. The corruption in the forest will try to spread and expand, and this will affect how the individual levels look and feel as you play them out. The corruption will spread to and attempt to control certain places of power around the world so it can expand even more quickly, and the players must work to prevent this from happening.
The characters of the game will reveal their own narrative threads which represent different facets of the same story. Our cast of characters is diverse not only in physical appearance, personality and combat style, but also different in their narrative-based motivations. The game is being designed from the ground up as a two player co-operative brawler, and we want different combinations of characters to show different facets of the same basic story. It is our intention to pack the game with all kinds of little secrets and character-combination-specific dialogues, without that content interfering with the core crux of the game--showing the endless hordes of corruption a distinct lack of mercy. We want the game to be a destructive romp of fast-paced brawler action, but we also want to create a world that you want to explore, and hopefully one that tugs on your heartstrings.
We're aiming to create a combat system that feels fun, responsive and intuitive, skin it in gorgeous hand-drawn art, and drive it through the interactions of these characters we've fallen in love with. We want to build deep replayability into a set of core mechanics that we hope will feel fun enough to be replayable in their own right. We want there to be many different ways to see the core conflict of the game to its conclusion.
Most of all though, we want to make a game that we ourselves are excited to play! We want to produce something that we're personally proud of and that makes people feel and think.
No Mercy will live on Steam as soon as we feel that it has been fleshed out enough to justify calling it Early Access. This Kickstarter campaign is the primary means to stay updated on the game's development before this happens. If you or anyone you know has any interest in this type of experience, there's very little time left to get in on it.
We pride ourselves in the work that we do and we're grateful for the team dynamics among ourselves that enable this work to be done. We plan to do right by both everyone kind enough to support our foolhardy endeavors and by everyone who will stumble upon this game in the future. No Mercy in many ways represents the hope of our dream of being a self-sufficient video game dev shop in Ohio actually becoming reality. We're so excited about its potential, and we hope that you are as well.

The Final Day

Well folks, we’re down to the final 15 hours of our project. It’s been a wild ride with you all. We can’t thank you enough for all of the support and kindness you’ve sent our way. But that won’t stop us from trying.
During the campaign, we were named “A Project We Love”, showed up on the front page for video games on Kickstarter, were featured on the front page of Game Jolt, had Grant Kirkhope tweet about us, and got to meet all of you. As of a few days ago, we were officially funded. As of yesterday, we broke our first stretch goal, and we are already on the way to breaking our second. Almost 700 strangers and friends came together to get us here, and wow it is encouraging.
Once the campaign is over, we dig into fulfilling rewards, announcing contest winners, and making NO MERCY! Before the Kickstarter ends, we thought it fitting to recap all of the things you can do in these final hours to spread the word and all of the cool things you get because of the overwhelming participation in the project.
Cool stuff you now get:
Beta Access to No Mercy
Digital Icon Pack (To be released when our Artist can actually get sleep)
In-Game Baby Companion
Baby the Office Dog, not a giant walking baby
We’ll Send you a compliment. You look good today, by the way. [That one’s on me ;)]
Holiday Skin Pack
Google Hangout W/Multivarious
Digital Expanded Comic Book
Embarrassing Multivarious Holiday Photo
The Winner of the Monster Contest! (The Winner will be announced super soon!)
Stretch Goal 1: Arena Battle Mode!
The original idea of No Mercy was to kill a lot of enemies and look good doing it. No we can revisit this original idea with the Arena Battle mode you all unlocked! Choose your characters and get thrown into the pits to battle an increasingly more difficult wave of enemies. Will you conquer or perish in this epic struggle of inhumane entertainment?
Cool stuff you can do to help MVG break our next stretch goal:
Share our project on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, or any other social media platform that tickles your fancy.
Tell all of your friends about us, loudly, and constantly, until they donate.
Go to Instagram and enter @Elentori's contest. You can repost an image, use the #NoMercyContest, and enter to win a chance for Elentori to draw you whatever you like, even if you haven't backed us on Kickstarter.
If you have donated, you can increase your pledge!
Stay tuned after the Kickstarter ends because we’ll be releasing more information on our projected timeline, beta access, and what all of that means for our backers. You guys are the bees knees, and we love you.

Wow, a little over a week and less than $2k to go. It’s been a crazy ride, but we can’t thank all of you enough for going on it with us! But that’s enough of being Sappy, we’ve got some work to do!
Our artist, Elentori, is holding a contest on her Instagram account! If you follow the instructions she provides in her post, you have a chance to win custom art from her! So go check it out, enter the contest, and win a picture of Kevin picking on Elliot for your Holiday card!
As we grow closer to our goal, we wanted to go ahead and release our Stretch Goals. BEHOLD: THE NO MERCY KICKSTARTER STRETCH GOALS!
As you can tell, there’s some cool goals in there, right?! We think so? I mean the Golem is on a GO KART. If that doesn’t make a million dollars, I don’t know what will. We’re super excited to go in depth on some of these rewards in the next few days, so stay tuned!
Finally, we want to give a shout out to our friends over at Resonator and their latest project Anew: The Distant Light. We met a few of the Devs at GDC this year, and the game looks like something super special. Check it out and tell them No Mercy sent ya!
Words cannot express how thankful we are for all the support you have shown. With your help and feedback, we’re already coming up with awesome ideas of how to make No Mercy even better. So let’s push together for this next week to share the game with our friends, give some last minute feedback on the Demo, and show this campaign No Mercy!
