A Monster of an Update (Part 2)
about 7 years ago – Fri, Mar 10, 2017 at 03:13:41 PM

It took a day longer than I thought, buy we’re back! It’s time for Part 2!

As I mentioned in our last update, the Monster Contests finalists have been chosen! Check out the gallery below if you haven’t had a chance yet!

Did you get a chance to inform yourself? Good! VOTING IS NOW LIVE! Go to www.multivarious.com/nomercy/contest to look at the gallery and cast your vote! We’re asking for your top 3 designs and we are limiting the votes to assure that we get an accurate response! Congratulations to everyone who made it this for in the contest, you all come up with some incredible designs!

If you all follow our Twitter or Facebook accounts, you may have seen that we got an email from a certain distribution platform. That’s right, No Mercy has been Greenlit!

To those of you who may not be familiar with the Steam Greenlight Process, we put No Mercy on the site, to let our and Steam’s Community to vote on whether they would want to see the project on the Steam Platform. Well, after 15 days, both communities spoke and we received an email from Steam telling us we have been accepted into their ecosystem. So now that we are Greenlit, we are officially confirmed for a Steam Release, which is exciting! Stay tuned to hear more updates about No Mercy coming to Steam in the future!

With all this excitement behind us, let’s look to the future! We’re going to be doing A LOT in the next few weeks, and we want you to know a little about our plans! Let’s start with Twitch.

We are doing 2 streams to celebrate the Kickstarter! Tomorrow night (Friday March 3rd) starting at 9 PM our Artist Elentori is going to be doing a 6-hour Art Stream on her Twitch channel. Anyone who has donated or donates during the stream will be entered into a drawing to request drawings throughout the night. So if you like art, or Elentori, then you should totally watch her stream tomorrow! Who knows, you may even find out a little more about a certain character of the game.

Speaking of unveiling way too much plot, you all earned a Drunk Writers Stream! The main writing team for No Mercy, Bria and Jon, are going to have some booze and answer your questions about the game. Tune in Saturday night to watch in on the fun. We’ll have more information on our Social Media pages in the next few days, so be ready for that as well!

Moving on to physical events, we’re going to PAX East next week! We won’t have a booth, but we will have handouts so if you see someone from the team at PAX, be sure to say hi! We’re ready to hit Boston, find some awesome indies, and celebrate all things Gaming!

Finally, we wanted to leave you with a new initiative that we are going to be doing with each of our updates from here on out. As our Kickstarter gets closer to the end, we wanted to provide a look to the future, so we all sat down and talked about what we’re most excited about and at the end of each update, we’ll hit you with a few of these excitements.

Cody: “Honestly, I’m just excited for the return of Couch Co-Op with No Mercy. Who doesn’t have fond memories playing games next to a friend, sibling, or any other special person? We’re trying to recapture that fun dynamic that you’re just now starting to see in games again, and that’s exciting.”

Katie: “I think my favorite thing so far has been seeing all the fanart and awesome creations people have made, we've even had some papercraft and cupcakes! If I ever see cosplay for No Mercy at a convention that will be absolutely amazing and the highlight of my life.”

So, that’s it from me! A lot has happened this week (hence the GIANT updates) but none of it would have happened without you. Thank you so much, from the bottom of all of our hearts. We have a little under 2 weeks left in the Kickstarter, so let’s push together and make No Mercy the best game it can be!

20k, Greenlight, and Console Wars
about 7 years ago – Fri, Mar 03, 2017 at 07:39:18 PM

Good evening, everyone!

There are a few big announcements you all should probably know about.

  1. We have 23 days left in our campaign, and we’re only $9,000 away from our goal. Can you believe it? Breaking $20,000 was such an exciting moment for the team because it means we’re ⅔ of the way there, and we still have 23 days. Thank you to everyone that has shared our project and/ or donated. You’re the best.

  2. We’re on Steam Greenlight! If you’re unfamiliar, it is a service that allows the community around a game to vote yes or no, and if the game gets enough votes for yes, it is put on Steam. Steam is arguably the most popular way of purchasing PC games, so it’s HUGE to be greenlit. You can vote for us here!

  3. A lot of you have been asking if No Mercy will be on any consoles in addition to Mac & PC. We are absolutely interested in that, but we aren’t sure which one to choose. Will you vote here and let us know which console you want the most?

  4. The Monster Contest submissions are closed. MVG is reviewing all of the incredible entries we received now. For real, you blew us away. We will pick the top few and open it up to all of you to vote for your favorite. The winner will have their monster included in the game and be given credit in No Mercy.

It has been a pleasure to hear all of your feedback, kind words, and suggestions. The support and engagement we’ve received has been amazing, and we’re excited to continue this project with all of you.

A Monster of an Update (Part 1)
about 7 years ago – Fri, Mar 03, 2017 at 06:31:58 PM

Hey all!

Wow, today was INSANE. We have a lot to share! So much in fact that we need to break it up into two days! Prepare for a monster of an update!

First off, the titular update: The Monster Contest! As you may or may not know, before we launched our Kickstarter, we started our “Monster Contest” where our community could submit ideas about interesting monster designs. Once our deadline closed on February 17th we had the hard task of going through all of them, from a design and gameplay perspective and picking out our favorites.

We received almost 50 different submissions and they we’re incredible! So incredible in fact, that it took us longer than we expected to decide on our top submissions. It took a night of voting, plenty of awesome monsters, and a roll of a d12 to determine these top submissions, but we’re happy to announce our Top 10 Submissions for the Monster Design Contest!

(Pardon the cropping... Kickstarter thinks this is an Audio File :D click the gallery to see it on imgur!)

We’re currently working on our voting system, so we wanted to show you the finalists, give you some time to stew on them, and we will post a follow up update tomorrow with the voting link. Stay tuned for voting!

Second off, We broke 400 backers and $23,000! This is an incredible milestone and we can’t wait to blow through even more! Thank you so much for supporting, sharing, and being so dang excited for No Mercy, It means so much to the team and I to share in your excitement.

Finally, we are currently the top featured project on Game Jolt! For those of you who may not know, Game Jolt is a game site, much like Itch, that is more centered on creating YouTuber and Developer relations. We had a ton of people recommend that we try to put our demo on Game Jolt as well as Itch, and we never thought it would turn out this successful. Go check out our page, and some of the other great games over on the site!

We’re gonna cap it here, but be prepared. Tomorrow we talk about the voting process for the Monster Competition, reveal a new initiative for our Kickstarter Updates, and maybe throw in another surprise that isn’t that secret!

With Love,

-Cody and the Multivarious Team

New Reward Tiers: Get 'em while they're hot
about 7 years ago – Sun, Feb 19, 2017 at 04:24:01 AM

Good afternoon, fair patron!

It’s been an incredible week. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we’ve almost hit $19,000. This is also an opportune moment to remind you that monster contest submissions are due in two days, on February 17th. Please tweet, post to Tumblr, or post your submissions on Facebook. Tag No Mercy or Multivarious Games in the post, and include a brief description and image of your monster.

Since everyone was so excited to contribute to the game and bought up all of our costume design tiers already, we’ve decided to release three sparkly, new reward tiers.

For anyone that likes looking cool in-game and impressing their friends with collectables:

We have the Little Petshop of Horrors. For $100, you will receive a set of 5 animal companions exclusive to Kickstarter. No one else will ever be able to have these pets. Anyone that purchases this tier or above will receive this quirky companions with their copy of No Mercy.

For our artists, creatives, and people that can’t draw but have cool ideas:

Our Heart of the Cards tier invites you to work with our artist to design one of the trading cards in the official No Mercy set. You don’t need to be able to draw to help design one (but it doesn’t hurt if you can), and your signature will be emblazoned on that card for all of time. You will also receive the full set of trading cards in this tier. Limited to 30 backers.

For our musicians:

We’ve gotten a lot of requests from musicians to work on the game, so here’s your chance. It’s No Treble will pair you with the game’s composer to craft one lilting melody or haunting tune to back the game. The piece you create together will be featured in the game and on the soundtrack, and your name will appear in the credits with your song. Limited to 3 backers.

If you have questions about any of these, please comment or message us! Stay tuned for stretch goal announcements next week.
